LaMelo was born in Anaheim, California, on August 22, 2001. His parents, LaVar and Tina Ball, both played basketball at the collegiate level. It is therefore not an exaggeration to claim that basketball is in the blood of the Ball family.
When Ball was just a toddler, his dad started putting him through basketball drills. At the tender age of 4, he began playing basketball alongside his elder siblings Lonzo and LiAngelo. When he was five, he tried his hand at flag football, but basketball was always his true love.
In 2013, the 20-year-old started playing on his parents’ Big Ballers VXT AAU team for kids aged 17 and younger, where he was able to spend time with his brothers.
