Before we get into whether or not you should hold out for Season 10 of Wentworth, there’s something we need to get out of the way. So yet, there have only been eight seasons of the show.

The eighth season of Wentworth will consist of twenty episodes and will premiere in two parts. Season one will air from July to September of 2020, while season two will begin airing on August 24, 2021, with the season finale airing on October 26, 2021.

Season 9 has been renewed, but many viewers seem to think they need to wait for Season 10 before they can get excited. I think I’ve made myself clear. So, let’s start with the bare essentials of this series. And now we come to the article’s meat and potatoes.

Will There Be A Season 10 of Wentworth

This show is an update of Prisoner, which first aired on Australia’s Network Ten from 1979 to 1986. Lara Radulovich and David Hannam developed Wentworth from a notion developed by Reg Watson.

The series takes place in the present day and chronicles Bea Smith’s rise through the ranks of an American prison. The show shifted to focus more on the cast as a whole starting with season five.

Not Another Season Of Wentworth Cancelled

Unfortunately, even the best things in life must eventually cease. The same can be said for Wentworth. After the second half of the eighth season aired in 2021, the show was cancelled. According to a press release from October 2019, the show has aired 100 episodes, making it the longest-running hour-long drama in Foxtel history.

It was also announced that season eight would be the last one. Those who have been holding out hope that the show would be renewed should let it go. Some fans believe that there won’t be a Season 9 or a Season 10 of the show. The last episode of the series aired. Plus, most people were happy with how things wrapped up.

Last Words From Wentworth

Let’s recap the final events of the series before we wrap up the article. At the beginning of the series finale, Lou was still plotting to escape from jail by using a nuclear device. The conversation is overheard by Ferguson, who then tells Rita. Upon confronting Lou, Rita finds herself in the middle of a vicious fistfight. Lou loses his phone, which contains the recordings, in the commotion.

Rita tries to dissuade Lou from placing the explosives in the slot, but Lou seems set on doing so. Ann sets up a fake transfer to the courthouse so that she doesn’t have to go there herself. Ann claims she is an expert in everything. A bomb goes off outside the prison and wipes out most of the inmate population.

As a result, Rita, Lou, Ruby, and Boomer are all able to make their escape. However, Allie has yet to be rescued from the debris. She reaches for her phone, hoping to get it back.

When Vera comes to, she finds Judy’s impaled body amid the debris. Ann had been aware of the plot, and she had intended for Judy to be killed. Ann tries to choke out Vera. Just as Vera is about to drop out, Ferguson yanks Ann off of her and snaps her neck, instantly killing her.

Ferguson rescues Vera and carries her out from the prison. She takes Vera outside and explains that she saved her so Grace wouldn’t be orphaned. Vera thanks the speaker. After making his exit, Ferguson faces away. When Linda reports her missing, Jake and Will are reassured since they know Linda now believes she is dead. Vera, though, keeps quiet.

Lou tries to get through the gates but is stopped by Rita. She has been captured and will be facing charges for her actions. We’re taking Allie to a secure location.

As Rita, Ruby, and Boomer meet her, Allie reveals that she has recovered the phone for them, so proving their innocence. Everyone is ecstatic, and the episode concluded on a positive note.
