When is The Wilds Season 2 Coming Out

Season 2 of The Wilds is nearly here, and if the first and only teaser is any indication, the drama that unfurled across the show’s binge-watchable first chapter “is only the beginning.”

This Sarah Streicher-created series, which features many timelines in the vein of the smash HBO hit Yellowjackets, follows a diverse group of teenage girls as they attend a women’s empowerment retreat together without knowing anybody else there.

The wellness trip quickly turns into a nightmare when the plane that was supposed to take them to Hawaii crashes into the water and they discover that they are unwitting participants in a potentially lethal sociological experiment.

The second season of The Wilds will pick up right where the first left off, with the young people still fighting for survival but now on an all-boys island. Future flashes will show the survivors attempting to flee the “rescue” facility.

When is The Wilds Season 2 Coming Out

While we wait to find out what happens, we’ve compiled all we know about the upcoming episode of the Prime Video series, including when it will be released, who will be in it, and everything we know about the plot so far. Just in case you’re interested…

What is the Premiere Release Date for Season 2 of The Wilds?

A second season of The Wilds will premiere on Netflix on May 6, 2022. Season 1’s ten episodes were simultaneously released on Amazon Prime Video on December 11, 2020, and season 2 is expected to follow the same pattern.

Season 2 Cast of The Wilds

Fatin, Rachel, Martha, Dot, Shelby, Toni, and Leah will be played once again by Sophia Ali, Reign Edwards, Jenna Clause, Shannon Berry, Mia Healey, Erana James, and Sarah Pidgeon. Gretchen Klein, the puppet master, is played once again by Rachel Griffiths.

Nora, played by Helena Howard, may have died trying to save her twin sister Rachel from a shark in the season 1 finale of The Wilds, but she is still likely to appear in season 2 because of the show’s alternate histories.

The trailer doesn’t hint to her return because it doesn’t show any flashbacks to her life before the plane disaster. We wouldn’t be shocked if there was more to the narrative, though, since the character was shown to be working with Gretchen at the end of season 1.

Actor-wise, there are many new faces in The Wilds season 2 thanks to the introduction of a new, all-male group of survivors.

Zack Calderon, who plays Rafael Garcia, is one of the newer cast members. Henry Tanaka, played by Aidan Laprete, will be played by Nicholas Coombe, who will also play Josh Herbert.

Additional cast members include Charles Alexander (Kirin O’Conner), Miles Gutierrez-Riley (Ivan Taylor), Reed Shannon (Scotty Simms), Tanner Ray Rook (Bo Leonard), and Alex Fitzalan (Seth Novak).

The Wilds debuted fifteen character posters earlier this month, showcasing the recalcitrant islanders. Try looking at the links up top.

The Storyline of The Wilds, Season 2

According to the official plot summary, Season 2 of The Wilds will focus on: “The fate of a group of adolescent girls stuck on an isolated island hangs in the balance after they make the shocking revelation that their entire situation is an elaborate social experiment.

A new group of teenage guys are introduced as test subjects in Season 2, adding to the tension and mystery by making it such that everyone on the island is fighting for their lives under the watchful eye of the experiment’s puppet master.”

From the looks of the trailer, Rachel is trying to cope with the loss of her arm in the shark attack and the guilt she feels over her sister’s presumed death, while some of the lads compete with one another and jockey for position. There will be plenty of topless rites performed around the campfire, too. Just your run-of-the-mill being-stranded-on-an-island nonsense.

In other news, Shelby and Toni’s hidden romance is bound to cause friction between the campmates as some of them worry that new alliances may form. A worried Martha asks Fatin, “Have you detected any new feelings, between some of the folks here?” when she sees Shelby and Toni kissing among the woods in the clip.

Even so, it’s not all high tension and probable danger. In the preview, we get a glimpse of two scenes: the girls throwing a birthday celebration on the beach, and Fatin, who previously only cared about herself, wondering, “What’s wrong with me?”

She jokes, “I know, it’s horrible. You just care is all,” to which Leah responds, “You just care is all.”

Leah, in a flashforward to the time when the island girls first establish contact with the island guys, is about to present herself to one of the male test subjects at their “rescue” facility. Who knows if the teams will clash or work together to defeat Gretchen Klein, the cruel woman in charge of presiding over the Dawn of Eve and Twilight of Adam trials.
