  1. BSOD can be caused due to multiple reasons . According to Microsoft this may occur due to installation of some faulty system service or code. Antivirus may be the reason for this too. Fixing this problem is necessary otherwise it can lead to greater issues and can have bad effects like frequent crash of OS, loss of data, malfunctioned hardware and program.

Well, if this error is due to a faulty system  ,the foremost step should be uninstalling the update. But if the issue is not resolved by uninstalling  and you still experience crashing of the OS, go through the article and follow the solution mentioned.

1. Recreate Pagefile

Windows have disk space  on hard disk in which it sets up page file for rapid use of regularly used programs. Getting rid of this issue will require disabling of page file. To continue the process, steps are:-

Step 2: Then, a run dialogue will appear. There ,paste SystemPropertiesAdvanced.exe and tap Enter to launch system properties.

Step 3: Next ,in system properties press over Advanced. In that, select performance, and then, click over settings.

This process will lead to deletion of any faulty data in page file. If it doesn’t works out ,check our second solution.

2. Run Chkdsk

Second method that we can use to resolve it is to first check if the hard drive is working or not ,and for that we will need to scan it.

In case you don’t know how to do this follow the steps below:

Step 1: First, press start, search for CMD and right click over it and select Run as administrator.

Step 2: Next, type chkdsk/f/r and press Enter.

After doing the above solution ,in case windows still crashes,  Scroll down

3. Run System Restore

Restore point is one of the best features to be of help in this issue. It takes the system back to working perfectly, as it was earlier. But for this you must have a restore point already formed.

If you already have  Restore point, following are the steps to resolve BSOD :-

Step 1: Start with clicking the windows key and press R.

Step 2: Then, type rstrui.exe on the dialogue box just opened, and press ENTER. Default choice would be recommend restore.

Step 3: Next, mainly we have to note the date / time of the restore point when the system was working smoothly. For viewing more points click to SHOW MORE RESTORE POINTS ,click Next and then Finish.

Step 4: Finally, follow the procedure given on screen to achieve SYSTEM RESTORE.

By chance, if you hadn’t created Restore point earlier, don’t worry and just move to our next point.

4. Update Windows

In software, to clear bugs and fix the issues, generally updates are provided. Updating windows also leads to solving BSOD issues.

So, check on updates if any and always keep your device up to date. Well, probably you must have been knowing the process of updates, but if you don’t steps are provided below :-

For windows 7 & 8:

Step 1: Tap windows key and search for updates.

Step 1: Click the start button and press R.

Step 2: Then type there ms-setting: windows update and press ENTER.

Step 3: Finally check for updates and install if any.

If updating didn’t work for you, go to the next solution.

5. Driver Interference

Generally , BSOD errors are caused due to incompatible or faulty drivers. This mainly occurs if you have recently updated systems to Windows 10.

For knowing that BSOD is caused due to faulty drivers or not, perform automatic driver update or manually update the driver.

For updating manually, go through the steps:-

Step 1: At first, search for DEVICE MANAGER in the start menu through the search bar.

Step 2: Then, when “DEVICE MANAGER” is launched, select the yellow marked device.

Step 3: Next right click over device and press software update. Follow the steps provided for updating.

Step 4: If you don’t find any update, uninstall the existing one and find the best and device specific driver.

Look over if you are still getting the issue. If yes, let’s move to the next part.

6. Run SFC Scan

SFC scan is in-built in Windows and used as a system file checker. It examines and fixes all the potentially harmful documents. It shows  details of the issue and eliminates it, making the device work normally.

Following are the steps for doing so:-

Step 1: First, search for cmd after pressing the start button.

Step 2: Next, right click on command prompt and select Run as administrator.

Step 3: Then, type sfc/scan now in command prompt and tap ENTER. Sfc/scan now will check all files and will replace bugged files with cached copies

Step 4: Close the prompt only after completion.

After going through all the processes, check for the issue. If that is still there, check out the next method.

7. Windows Memory Diagnostics

Defective RAM, sometimes, leads to these issues. RAM is an integral part and a bug in that, can trigger such problems in devices. To check the RAM, whether it’s faulty Or not, we need to use a Memory Diagnostic tool.

For that, here are the steps :-

Step 1: Firstly ,tap windows+R.

Step 2: Then, type mdsched.exe in the box and press Enter.

Step 3: After that, choose the preferred options from the dialogue box.

Step 4: While rebooting, check up of RAM will start. If it finds some error, then inspect it.

  • In the laptop, at the bottom is the RAM compartment.
  • On the desktop, open the CPU carefully.

Step 5: If more than one RAM is there, place them parallel to each other, remove sticks and clean golden contacts with eraser. Also, clean slots with a toothbrush.

Step 6: Then, check each stick, put one at a time and see if you get the error. Also, check the slot.

If you don’t get an error with either of the RAM, then probably the motherboard of your device has been damaged. For that, it can be repaired at any hardware repair shop for desktop and laptops.
