Huawei Nova 9 SE Features, Specifications, and Review

You may get the Huawei Nova 9 SE in Crystal Blue, Midnight Black, or Pearl White. The reflective rear of our Crystal Blue review sample is particularly eye-catching. Consistently tight and equal gaps in the construction are likewise outstanding.

The smartphone doesn’t make any noises when twisted. There is no IP rating for resistance to dirt and moisture. In general, Huawei’s offerings are lacking in the features department. There is support for two SIM cards, but there is no microSD card slot or headphone jack.

The USB 2.0 connector allows for OTG, allowing for the connection of external storage devices and peripherals. Because there is no DRM certification, users are limited to watching restricted content in low definition.

Hawai Nova 9 SE Communication, Software, and Operation

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 is the 4G SoC powering Huawei’s Nova 9 SE. Although the Snapdragon X11 modem cannot connect to a 5G network, it can achieve download speeds of up to 390 MBit/s over an LTE connection.

When tested with our standard router, the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000, the Wi-Fi module performed as expected, with the expected speeds and highly reliable data rates. The EMUI 12 user interface, developed in-house by Huawei, sits atop Android 11 without Google services.

The AppGallery makes it possible to install apps, although popular ones like WhatsApp and Signal are still missing. Google search can be used to find relevant websites where the missing software can be installed, but doing so is not simple, especially for less tech-savvy individuals.

At the time of the test, the security updates were up to date to the point where they were released on March 1, 2022. This is likely to be the first of what Huawei hopes will be quarterly updates.

Huawei’s Nova 9 SE features a responsive and accurate capacitive touchscreen. The unnamed glass has a screen protector put to it before it leaves the factory, diminishing its smoothness marginally.

Hawai Nova 9 SE Design

The Huawei nova 9 SE is available in blue, pearl white, and black. The Pearl White is the review vehicle of choice. The phone has a polycarbonate frame and a glass front and back, giving it a high-end appearance and feel.

The shiny, reflective back that looks great in some lights but shows every fingerprint. With dimensions of 164.64 x 75.55 x 7.94 mm, a mass of 191 g, and a display size of 6.78 inches, this is a hefty phone, but its mass is rather well distributed.

But if you want a smartphone that you can operate with a single hand, seek elsewhere. The front-facing 16-megapixel camera is centered and can record video at 1080p resolution. The power button and volume controls are located on the right side of the phone. The power button doubles as a fingerprint reader, allowing for lightning-fast unlocking and recognition.

The 6.78-inch TFT LCD screen on the Huawei nova 9 SE has a resolution of 2388 by 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 90 hertz, both of which contribute to a more fluid user experience.

The colors are vivid, the contrast is high, and the viewing angles are good. It can be used outside because to its bright display and small bezels, which make for a more immersive viewing experience.

Hawai Nova 9 SE Performance & Connectivity

The Huawei nova 9 SE has a Snapdragon 680 CPU, an Adreno 610 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. In terms of performance, the Snapdragon 680 and Adreno 610 are more than adequate for a low-priced smartphone.

Its processing power is sufficient for playing games with little to no lag. The Huawei nova 9 SE is equipped with a variety of network options, including Wi-Fi, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and GPS.

Hawai Nova 9 SE Cameras

The Huawei Nova 9 SE’s front-facing camera takes decent photos overall but quickly loses detail in bright environments.

At its core, the main camera’s appealing photos come from a 108 megapixel sensor (Samsung HM2, S5KHM2). However this puts a strain on the Snapdragon 680’s image processor, which officially supports only up to 64 MP.

This does not compromise image quality but does slow down the process. It’s not a major problem, but it is apparent. While the other lenses are lovely to have, they only produce results that are appropriate for online use.

Full High Definition at 30 frames per second is the gold standard for film. A 4K option, at the very least, would have been appreciated.

Hawai Nova 9 SE

The Nova 9 SE, like other current Huawei handsets, operates on Android 11.x with the MIUI 12 skin applied. Android apps can still be installed using Huawei’s own AppGallery or through alternative app stores like APKPure, even though the device itself doesn’t support Google Play Services.

Users may easily manage or set up multi-device collaboration through the Device+ option in Control Panel. The nova 9 SE’s One Hop Connectivity via NFC makes it possible to instantly connect with other Huawei devices by a tap.

The nova 9 SE’s DFS integration makes it possible to share data with other computers. Huawei share allows users to transfer data between their smartphone and other Huawei devices, and 11 people can be on the line at once.

Hawai Nova 9 SE Battery & Audio

The phone’s 4000mAh battery is large enough to last a whole day. The Huawei nova 9 SE includes a 66W fast charger, which can juice up the phone from zero to seventy-five percent in around twenty minutes, and can do the same for a full charge in about forty to fifty.

The Huawei nova 9 SE has dual speakers that emit sound downwards. You can fill a small room with it, however there is significant distortion at high volumes. The call quality is excellent because to the high quality of the microphones.

The Huawei nova 9 SE features a good display, sufficient battery life to last a day, and a generally satisfying user experience. The hardware/software/price ratio is excellent for what you get.

The lack of Google Play Services may be a deal breaker, however there are many useful features and apps already installed.
