Athletics at the 2019 Pan American Games – Men

Between July 27 and August 11, 2019, the Athletics Stadium in the Villa Deportiva Nacional Videna cluster.

Hosted the 2019 Pan American Games’ athletics competitions, while Parque Kennedy hosted the marathon and walks.

Overall, there were 48 competitions, with men and women competing in the same number of categories.

This edition marked the first time that men and women competed in the same number of events; the women’s 50 km walk was added specifically for this edition.

A maximum of 740 athletes were allowed to participate. Each country is allowed to submit a maximum of two individuals and one relay team for each event.

There is a strict quota on participants and a certain level of skill for each competition.

Because of their status as hosts, Peruvian athletes are guaranteed one automatic berth per event, regardless of whether or not any of their citizens qualify.

U.S. Pan American Games 3×3 Men’s Team Finishes Strong to Win Gold

The United States men’s 3×3 basketball team (4-3 overall) saved their finest performances for the final day of the 2019 Pan American Games.

And in doing so, they claimed the inaugural 3×3 basketball gold medals.

With a 21-12 victory over Brazil in the medal round semifinals, the United States went on to hand Puerto Rico (6-1) its first loss of the competition in a tight 21-19 victory in the gold medal game.

After the U.S. men’s team won the 3×3 basketball competition at the Pan American Games, the United States swept the event.

Also on Monday, the United States women went undefeated at 7-0 and took home the gold.

Kareem Maddox (Princeton/Los Angeles, CA) stated of the U.S. Women’s 3×3 team, “Look, I’m glad we didn’t have to play them in the championship because they are tough.”

“Many of their games were broadcast to us, and from what we saw, they are tough, talented basketball players.

The group right in front of us served as a source of motivation since they modelled the correct strategy for playing 3×3.

Which was a skill we needed to pick up quickly and for which we needed to collaborate.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we couldn’t have wished for a nicer, more amazing quartet of ladies to help us win the first-ever 3×3 tournament at the Pan American Games.”
